The first surgery in Poland using a customized knee replacement from the US company Conformis was performed on Thursday, 2 September 2021, at the Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Department of the Medical University of Warsaw in Międzylesie, managed by Artur Stolarczyk, MD, PhD. The surgery was performed in a very active 57-year-old man with osteoarthritis.
The surgery took 1 hour and 15 minutes and was successful. iTotal CR implants were used to allow retaining the patient’s posterior cruciate ligament. The procedure involved instrumentation manufactured using 3D technology. The implants used for the procedure were individually tailored after obtaining computed tomography images. Thanks to Conformis technology, the patient will be able to resume his physical activity and previous lifestyle.
Surgeons from the Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Clinic of the Medical University of Warsaw were very pleased with the surgical techniques and the outcome.
Bart Lagae, a representative of Conformis, was present during the procedure.
Mediway is the sole distributor of Conformis implants in Poland.
